We believe that every child has the right to play, make friends and have fun. We celebrate individuality and achievement through praise, encouragement and consistency of care.

At Windmill Children’s Centre we offer a range of age or developmentally appropriate activities for children. Following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines. Windmill is an all inclusive setting and welcomes all children aged 3 months to 4 years.

Each child has their own key worker who attends to the child’s individual needs and keeps parents/ carers informed of their child’s day at nursery. Children have their own profile and parents are welcome to contribute to this. At Windmill we cater for children’s religious and dietary requirements offering healthy meals and snacks.

Opening Hours
Windmill Children’s Centre is open 50 weeks of the year.

Monday – Friday 8.00 – 6.00 (except Bank Holidays)

About Us
The Children’s Centre has 5 training days per school year. We have an early closure on the first Wednesday of every month for staff training and development.

The Children’s Centre offers full day care for working and training parents, and seasonal places for pre school age children.

The Children’s Centre is attached to Windmill Primary School in Belle Isle, South Leeds and is situated in pleasant grounds that have ample green outdoor play space.

The Centre works closely with the teaching staff to promote a smooth transition from nursery to school, where the journey towards fulfilling a lifetime of positive contributions and economic success continues.

The Centre works in close partnership with parents/ carers education, family outreach workers, health care professionals, speech and language therapists and Job Centre Plus.

Windmill Children’s Centre has an Advisory Board, which convenes regularly to discuss how best to meet the needs of the community. The board has representatives from the Centre, school, parents, police and councilors and other professionals.

The Centre also provides play and stay sessions for children and their carers.

The family outreach workers are successfully running a toy library, play with language, and time to explore sessions.
